Origami Paper

With origami being the magic of paper, we get a lot of questions about the paper. You'll use a variety of paper as you work through your creations. You can always purchase traditional origami paper in craft- or art-supply shops. This paper has then one colored side and one white side.

Your project directions will instruct you where to place the sides before you begin your folding project.

Experiment with paper though. With all the paper design that is out there nowadays you have so many options to be as creative as you can.

Some paper to consider:

  • gift wrap paper
  • decorative foils
  • recycled newspapers
  • magazine pages.

Just remember to pay attention to the weight of the paper. The results will differ when you fold with heavy-weight when the directions call for light-weight.

Example of a really light-weight project.
